Images of Wuxi

Wuxi is a city of about 4 million people and lies between Nanjing and Shanghai. It is a lovely city with many things to do and see. One of the largest lakes in China is not far - Lake Taihu, although the lake has shrunk considerably due to irrigation needs its still a large lake. The old part of Wuxi was the most interesting. When Jonathan and I were there two summers ago it was unbearably hot - in excess of 40c, so it was quite uncomfortable for us.

Two Buddhas

This is in a park about an hour and a half out of Wuxi. Although it is all very modern and touristy it is worth a look.

The tall Buddha in the background is 88 meters tall and is made from either brass or bronze.

Large Buddha

Beaten Copper Mural

This copper mural is at the same park as the large Buddha. It is quite spectacular as well. It must be a good 15 meters wide and about 4-5 meters high and is mounted into natural bank.

Pagoda - Wuxi Old Town

Jonathan and I could see this pagoda from a distance whilst we were in a taxi and told the driver to take us there. It was a great find as this was the real old part of the city.
